Climate Change Workshop - Invergordon

26 July 2023

Starts: 12:30
Ends: 15:30

Wednesday 26 July  12.30  15.30  Invergordon Leisure Centre
Invergordon  IV18 0GH

The Scottish Government is asking people across Scotland for their views on how we can best tackle climate change.

During June and July 2023, government representatives will be undertaking a series of workshops on climate change policy.

Why?  Scotland is taking lasting action to secure a net zero and climate resilient future in a way that is fair and just for everyone. The Scottish Government has committed to delivering a just transition to net zero by 2045, with an ambitious interim target of a 75% reduction in emissions by 2030.

Moving toward becoming a net zero nation will require all aspects of Scottish society to embrace significant changes in order for us to meet our ambitious targets. The places we live in will need to adapt to the changing climate and to find a sustainable path to reducing emissions.

Preparing exhibits for BIHS Show 12 August

26 July 2023

Starts: 14:00

Wednesday 26 July  2.00 and 6.30    Corntown

Graham Sullivan, Secretary of the Black Isle Horticultural Society, writes

A month to go until our Summer Show on 12th August in Rosemarkie!

Preparing your exhibits – practical session

Entering the Show can seem a bit daunting If you haven’t done it before, or if there are things you’re not sure about.  We want to make it easy for people to enter the Show, so this year we’re holding a practical session about selecting and preparing fruit, veg and flowers for the showbench. It won’t be about how to grow giant onions or perfect begonias; it’s about things like choosing your four best tomatoes, how much stalk to leave on your gooseberries, how to mount pansies, how tall the stems on your cut flowers should be, and answering any questions you might have.

The session will last up to two hours, and we’ll run it twice on Wednesday 26th July, at 2:00pm and again at 6:30pm, at Corntown near Conon Bridge.  If you’d like to come along, or have any questions, please get in touch and let us know whether you’d like to attend the afternoon or evening session.
